A Gospel-Centered Community of Worshippers (Vision – Who We Are)
Making Disciples of All Nations (Mission – What We Do)
For the Glory of God (Purpose – Why We Exist)
Second, I encourage you to come and celebrate Palm Sunday (4/13) and Easter (4/20) with us this month. We are planning two very special services that will help us remember and celebrate the last week of our Lord, Jesus Christ. On Palm Sunday, we will participate in a “Tenebrae” service, which walks with Jesus through His last days on Earth.
The service of Tenebrae originated during the early years of the church. The word “tenebrae” means “darkness” and refers specifically to a service of worship in which progressive extinguishing of candles represent the snuffing out of the life of Christ. This service depicts the events that led to the crucifixion and ends with the burial of Jesus Christ. This dramatic representation of Christ’s suffering and death will sweeten the victory and joy of Easter Sunday.
Trust me, you do not want to miss this special time of remembrance and celebration!
